The Emulazer utilizes the same ‘user-friendly’
interface found
in other Techno curriculum packages (i.e. CO2 Car &
Aerodynamics).
The written instructions for the front-end software guide the students
to
step between image processing, converting to G-code and CNC machine
control. The modular package includes a multimedia based set of
instructions, photo editing software and an engraving tool.
All of the most
popular graphic formats are supported by our
digital photo-editing software: .bmp, .jpg,
.tga, .gif, .tif, etc.
Students emulate the work done by
professional graphic artists
by adjusting an image’s color balance,
contrast, brightness, size
and sharpness. The software interfaces with
any TWAIN
compatible device, such as scanners and
digital cameras.
Note: Scanner and/or digital camera is not included
with Emulazer.
The processed
image is imported, converted into a machine code and saved
in a conversion folder. The
interface allows the end user several options for
setting the application’s size, resolution,
depth of cut, feed speed, etc. After
setting parameters to suite application,
a new machine code file is
saved as
a CNC executable program.
The image program
is accessed by the CNC
machine software and then engraved into
wood.
Finishing the engraved wood only requires some
light sanding and a coat of stain. Note: The CNC
machine is sold separately.
Finally, a curriculum
package that involves educational requirements for
several Tech-Ed programs. This curriculum allows teachers to present this
material as either a dedicated program or as a more flexible rotating
system.
Students who are engaged in graphics, drafting, math, science, tech lab, CNC
machining and woodshop will all benefit.
